Tutorial: How to create cut outs in Hydroman.

Goal:

Creating cut outs in your manifold.

Steps:

• Cut outs.

  

  The ‘Cut outs…’ tool is used to cut a piece out of the manifold. The ‘Cut outs…’ tool is located under the ‘Modify’ menu. After opening the tool a dialog with an overview of the faces will appear with a list of existing cut outs. With the four buttons you can either add a new cut out, modify an existing cut out, delete an cut out or remove all the cut outs from the manifold. When you modify or add a new cut out an extra dialog will appear with all the settings for the cut out.

  

• The following example shows step by step how to use the ‘Cut outs…’ tool. Two cut outs will be made and the result will be as shown in the next picture. For this example an empty manifold with size Xmax= 300, Ymax = 200 and Zmax = 100 is used.

  

  • Open a new manifold.
  • Start the ‘Cut outs…’ tool located in the Modify menu.

  

  After starting the ‘Cut outs…’ tool a window with an overview of the existing cut outs will open.

  

  • Click the Add button topen the insert window.

• In this window you need to choose a face and corner or X and Y coordinate to originate from.

  For dimensioning the cut out height, width and optional a depth of the cut out have to be specified.

  

• Select a face and corner and set the dimensions as in the next picture, a preview will now appear in the face drawing.

  • Note: The corner numbers are given in the preview as well as the size of the manifold.

  

• Click OK to create this new cut out.

  • The cut out is also shown in the main cut out window.
    Press OK to close this window to see the cut out in HydroMan.
    

    The cut out will be shown in the face drawings and in the isometric view. In addition to that the picture of an export is shown below.

    

    

    

    Re-open the ‘Cut outs…’ tool and start adding a new cut out.
    The second cut out will be a cut out of 50×50 on face 3, with a custom location and depth.
    Set the face to 3, corner to none and uncheck Through.
    Specify the dimensions of 50×50 and set the depth to 150.
    The only thing that remains is choosing a location.
    Set the Y coordinate to 190 and leave the Z coordinate 0.
    Press OK to add this cut out.

    

• Both cut outs are shown in the main cut out window.

  

  Press OK to close this window and see the result in HydroMan.
