Tutorial: How to position your 3D valves for export to a 3D assembly
Goal:
Placing your 3D valves in the right position for the export from Hydroman to your 3D CAD software.
Steps:
There are two possibilities for 3D file. A cartridge valve or pattern mounted valve.
Positioning a cartridge valve.
-
For a cartridge valve you need to address the locating shoulder. Here will the 3D valve be on inserted.
-
Select the cavity and press the “A” key on your keyboard or use the right mouse button.
The attribute window will pop-up. In this example(VC10-2) the locating shoulder is the last step 1.7. What the locating shoulder should be you can find in the documentation from the manufacturer.
-
Select the last step and see of the step is marked as shoulder. If not do so.
The locating shoulder is not necessary always the last step from a cartridge.
-
Now you have to set the shoulder in your 3D software. In this example we use Autocad / Inventor.
-
Download the 3D file (for example CV10-20) from the manufacturer. Drag the file into the program or open the file.
-
Check where the locating shoulder from this valve is. The X,Y and Z should be at 0,0,0.
In this case the valve need to be rotated to in the right position. It should look like this.
-
In Hydroman you can rotate the valve. If you have for example a cartridge directional valve where the coil must rotated 90 degrees you select the cartridge in Hydroman and open the valve settings with the right mouse buton or the shortcut.
In the next window select the edit button and here you can change the rotation.
The rotation is over the face where the cavity is placed.
Positioning a pattern mounted valve
-
For a pattern mounted valve the first hole of the pattern is the insertion point for the 3D valve. For example a NG6 cetop pattern de P port is the insertion point because this is first hole in the pattern.
In the drilling list.
-
To position your 3D valve in your 3D CAD program you follow the steps for the cartridge positioning. Only now the P in your 3D valve has to be at the zero point X,Y and Z at 0.
Also rotating your 3D valve in Hydroman is the same as the cartridge valve.
